They handed him a sanction by excluding him from Saturday's seventh stage from Tournus to Les Rousses ski station.

McEwen said: "I just saw the guy jump in front of me to go behind Cavendish. I was still riding quite fast so I couldn't avoid him."
McEwen was reported to have been helped up by someone working for Vittel, one of the many sponsors on the race.
The Australian and his team originally believed the Vittel employee had caused him to crash.
